The "A" family...

So... this is the family we owe our new family of 4 to! That's right, it's because of these guys that we now have 2 dogs. The first weekend we scheduled to do the "A" family portraits, we ended up having to re-schedule to this weekend. That left the previously scheduled weekend free for us...and what do we do on a free weekend? We make crazy decisions! Yep, we thought we should spend our newly free weekend potty training a puppy, so we brought Punk home! Thanks "A" family!

Enough about us, let's get onto the session...

We were so excited when we walked up to their house...it had so much character! Starting with the front door...it was not an ordinary front door with 4 corners...no way! It was a beautiful wooden door with a rounded top! So cool! And that was just the beginning of the house...the "A" family that calls it home was a blast too! I don't think we stopped laughing the whole time we were there! We took some pictures, looked at scrapbooks, giggled, talked about the pictures around the house, laughed, played with the dogs, took some more pictures...we had a great time with you guys! It felt like we have known you forever! I hope we can get together again sometime, until then, here's your sneak peak...Enjoy!

Wind shear?

No, this is just the constant state of Punk's ears lately! He always looks like he's in a wind storm. The funniest part is that Maddoxx's ears will fall forward when she is tired, not Punk's. It doesn't matter how he's feeling or the time of day, his ears stay like this no matter what.

Golfing in the skywalk...

A couple weeks ago we golfed in the annual skywalk minigolf extravaganza! Usually I'm not THAT bad and at least get a hole in one or two...yeah, not happening this year! Wow, I was pathetic! Good thing mom and dad came down this year because dad helped the overall team score and we ended up in 21st place on the green course!

My funny valentine

Since Valentine's Day 2008 is less than exciting for us as I'm spending it on the couch still trying to get over this bug, so I thought I would share a funny v-day story from a few years ago...

It was our first v-day as Mr. & Mrs. Smidt and our first v-day living in a new town so we thought we should go all out and have a nice candle-lit dinner at a beautiful restaurant....I present to you reason #3461 why it's not a good idea to go out for dinner on v-day!

Eric was in charge of finding the perfect restaurant. He scoured the internet and yellow pages for the perfect restaurant with just the perfect menu. He found it! But it was kept a secret from me, I couldn't know until we arrived. Exciting!

It was a 7:00 pm reservation, much passed our preferred supper time, but we sucked it up and let our stomachs get extra hungry in anticipation of the perfect v-day meal....and this is where is all went south very quickly.

This was before the time of the trusty GPS and we couldn't find the place! Mapquest wasn't doing its job and we drove forever before finding the tiny little restaurant. That should have been our first clue. Then...

Parking was sketchy too. I remember this vividly because our new car wasn't even a month old and I wasn't so excited about parking just a few inches from the next car. Yikes! But I sucked it up and made myself believe that a door ding would be worth it for a nice candle lit dinner with my husband. (gulp)

We made it inside and we were sat at our perfect little table for two. And then we got the MENU....or lack there of. It was a SET menu...that's right, the steaks Eric saw on their menu online were not available. The asparagus...nada. The mashed potatoes...no way! We were not going to get them!

The only thing I remember from the menu was the main course:

That's right...Hedgehog was the main course!! Can you really EAT these things?!?! Oh my goodness, panic set in! The only option? LEAVE and leave fast!!
Uh-huh, we hightailed it out of there so fast! The good thing was that we were able to leave before anyone else and avoided the dreaded door ding!
We drove and drove until we found 'ol faithful...Applebee's. It was definitely a v-day to remember...

sick...

So you are probably wondering where in the world I have been since last weekend...
I don't have an excuse for last week, but this week has started off with a bang...
Little Punk passed out on me yesterday...yes, he tipped over backwards and was out cold! I rushed him to the vet and they did numerous tests on the little guy and kept him for observation. But everything came back inconclusive. So I emailed the place where we got him and found out the same thing has happened to his mom! Turns out it was probably because he ate too fast and the food got caught and cut off his air supply and he passed out. Good heavens...I could do with never experiencing that again, talk about a panic attack!

And today I've got a case of the yuck! :( I went to the doctor and she gave me a trusty Z pack. That combined with some Aleve and MucinexD I'll be ready to rock and roll again very soon! So no worries to the Ponca families, we'll be there ready to capture you, we can't wait!!

Ponca you ask? That's right folks, we're coming back to NW Iowa/Nebraska this weekend for some family shoots. Our Saturday is booked full in Ponca. However, if you're in the Sioux City or LeMars area, give us a shout if you want to book a session on Sunday! Visit our website at www.kandeproductionsonline.com and contact me through there and I'll get back to about scheduling.

Sorry, no picture in this post...my body is not letting me get off the couch. I promise some pics of our skywalk minigolf adventures this past weekend very soon!

Here's to rest and drinking lots of OJ....

The "S" Family...

What a great way to start out the day...a photo session with a toddler! I had so much fun listening to little "M"! She was very serious about what she was saying, I'm not quite sure what she was telling me, but I do know she was serious about it! :) She was a quick one; the snuggling moments were fleeting, but I was able to freeze some of them with a quick click of the camera.
And the best news of all, is that little "M" will soon be a big sister! I am so excited to capture the little one once she makes her arrival! Only 5-6 more weeks!
Thank you for inviting me to your home to capture little "M" on the verge of turning 2 and life as it is in the days before it becomes life with 2 little girls!
